Labor Day Weekend
Music along the Central Coast
Saturday Night Live
September 1 2012
With some of the of the most spectacular Ocean viewing in the world the coast of Oregon also features world class entertainment! Of course summer is especially packed with touring and local talent culminating with Labor Day Weekend with shows in just about every venue. From up and down the central coast we bring three choice venues and bands scheduled for this Labor day Weekend.
Driftwood Inn in Yachats Richwood an acoustic duo (Click link)
Americana meets Indy Folk Rock with a ruckus backbeat of driving rhythms, intertwined harmonies, and soulful leads.
Roadhouse 101 in Lincoln City DK Stewart Quartet Chicago blues, East Coast Swing and rockin’ boogie woogie.
Blues pianist and singer D.K. Stewart, a Hall of Fame Cascade Blues Association Muddy Award winner heads up this kickin band.
The Roadhouse is a great place for live music. Focused towards Blues they bring in national and international groups and help bands from the Oregon get a start. Their commitment to live music is refreshing.
San Dune Pub in Manzanita Featuring the Led Zeppelin tribute band Ramble On
Four musicians who grew up with the music of Led Zeppelin: Steve Adams (Jimmy Page), Chael Emmett (John Paul Jones), Merrill Hale (John Bonham), and Rich Ray (Robert Plant)– based out of Portland.
Sand Dune Pub is another coastal venue with a vibe that goes beyond just trying to make a buck and is a a true supporter of live music. Plus they serve these sweet potato fries, I had never had sweet potatoes, don’t really like sweet potatoes. I LOVE THE FRIES AND DIP.
30 Second video of Tillomook Rock Lighthouse
This is a spectacular sight with storm sized waves. Cannon Beach and Ecola State Park.
Video of the 1925 vintage Steam Locomotive featuring the music of Henry Turner Jr. and the band Flavor touring Oregon through July and August
Ultimate Louisiana Party featuring Henry Turner and FLAVOR will perform at the Roadhouse 101 in Lincoln City and Cecil’s Dirty Apron in Newport.
Recognized as one of the 100 Best Art Towns in America by John Villano
I came across several members and sponsors of the Cannon Beach Gallery Group. A top shelf collection of fine galleries and some of the ares best dining and lodging companies. Together they have several events planned this year for the ocean side village. I haven’t had a chance to visit all of the galleries but one in particular, Bronze Coast Gallery, blew me away. I am particularly interested in sculptures and the artists represented here are among the finest, Mark Lundeen, Gene Guibord, David Crawford, Matthew Gray Palmer to name just a few.

Back on the road … South to Manzanita
South of Cannon Beach about 13 miles is the Town of Manzanita, a quaint little seaside town that has a great pub with live music and a killer blue cheese bacon burger and sour cream French fries called the San Dune Pub.
The Sunset Surf Motel in Manzanita is right on the ocean with a wide range of room styles some including fireplaces at surprisingly low rates… Check them out
